Changes to UT's Automatic Admission

Texas law offers eligible freshman applicants automatic admission to public colleges and universities, including the University of Texas at Austin. The initial legislation, passed into law in 1997, offered automatic admission to eligible students in the top 10% of their high school class.  However, for Summer/Fall 2023 admission, students eligible for automatic admission to the University of Texas at Austin must be in the top 6% of their graduating class.
