The Texas Education Agency announced Lake Dallas High School as a Purple Star Campus, demonstrating support and commitment to meeting the unique needs of military-connected students and their families, earning the Purple Star Campus Designation.
The Purple Star Campus Designation is a special honor created by the 86th Texas Legislature through SB 1557.
Within the first week of transitioning to Lake Dallas High School, a military connected student can expect to receive a campus tour from one of our administrative or faculty liaisons, as well as one of our current LDHS Military Connected students. We will also spend time over lunch getting to know our new student, answering any questions they may have and helping them feel comfortable in their new home.
Parents can expect a call from a campus liaison as well, welcoming them to the Falcon Family and thanking them for their service. We’d like to know if there are any needs that the family has so that we can make their transition to LDHS as smooth as possible.
Our campus will periodically hold gatherings for our Military Connected students. This will give them an opportunity to spend time with campus liaisons and build relationships with staff members on campus in addition to other military connected students.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to a campus liaison with any needs or updates that will help us support you and your student, including deployment or return dates, questions about moving to or from our district, and help that we can offer in those efforts!
Please let us know how we can support you - as you support us!
Family Resources
Our Military Kids
Our Military Kids supports military children (ages 3 - 18) by funding sports, arts, and other extracurricular activities while a parent is deployed with the National Guard, deployed with the Reserve, or recovering from severe injuries sustained in a post-9/11 overseas mission. Participation in these activities helps military children cope with stress and build self-confidence during an otherwise difficult time in their lives.
At Lake Dallas High School we want to thank and support our families who have served and are currently serving in the military. We want to partner and assist our military families however we can. This page has links to helpful military resources. Please feel free to contact Arely Potts at apotts@ldisd.net with any additional questions regarding these resources. Do not hesitate to reach out if there is anything we can do. We are very grateful to the men and women who serve our country.
Frequent moves and family separations through deployments, as well as
reintegration issues, make life especially challenging. The state of Texas offers a number of programs to assist military families.
The Denton County Veterans guide is one way to thank and support our families who have served and are currently serving in the military. This page has links to helpful military resources and ways to help local families.
Our Family Support programs are designed to teach Texas’ Service Members and Families to be “good fishermen” – knowledgeable, aware of resources, adaptable, and networked to succeed and grow from the experiences unique to military culture.
The State of Texas recognizes veterans as a valuable, talented and skilled workforce, and to that end is committed to increasing the number of military service members and veterans living and working in Denton County
April is designated as the Month of the Military Child; a time to honor the sacrifices made by military families worldwide, with an emphasis on the experience of the dependent children of military members serving at home and overseas.
